Eviction Defense Project (Milwaukee & Dane counties)


Legal Action of Wisconsin's Eviction Defense Project (EDP) is court-based, FREE legal aid for low-income tenants who are facing eviction.  

 

At the EDP, eligible clients can obtain FREE legal aid with their evictions, including:


• Brief legal advice 
• Settlement assistance
• Document drafting
• Limited scope in-court representation 

 

Potential clients at both locations should bring:

 

• Proof of income (if any)

• Court papers

• Notices

• Rental agreements

 

The EDP has locations in Milwaukee and Dane Counties:

 

Milwaukee EDP

Mondays, Thursdays, and certain Wednesdays and Fridays

Tenants are strongly encouraged to request help from the EDP by contacting Heidi as soon as possible after the eviction case has been filed.  Tenants may also walk-in on Tuesdays, but should appear at least one hour before their scheduled court date. Whether or not the EDP can take the case will depend on the eligibility of the applicant and project capacity at the time the tenant applies for services.
